Our Location
The COHO-NOOK-INN is located just off the shores of beautiful Settlers Cove on Kodiak Island, Alaska. We call our lodge this because it means "Silver Salmon Corner", and in August when the Silvers are jumping so close you can hear the splash it truly is at the corner of the Silvers! We are surrounded by the waters and wilderness that make Kodiak Island a premier fishing and hunting destination. From the time you leave the Kodiak airport until you arrive at our lodge, you'll want your camera handy. You might see anything from a Sitka Blacktail Deer to a Fin Whale, to a Cross Fox and birdlife too numerous to fit in this space. Wildlife goes hand in hand with our Fishing Adventures. Our Lodge and Ammenities
The lodge is a comfortably rustic and well-appointed two-story building. The Guest Area is on the first floor, with the top floor dedicated to your hosts residence.
When you arrive, you will be unloaded at the ramp that attaches to the spacious deck overlooking Settlers Cove. Entry into the lodge is from this deck. Located just inside the door is a great room with lots to look at. Mounted local sea ducks and locally trapped foxes and land otters adorn this area. A wood burning fireplace takes the chill off on rainy days, and a tundra swan in flight seems to come from the horizon.
Off of this great room are 4 guest rooms. One room has 3 double beds with a bathroom. One has a double and a queen with bath, a third has a full double bunkbed with bath, and the fourth room has 2 double size beds and it's own bath as well. The rooms are spacious and all have blackout curtains for those long Alaskan days that turn into nights.
We have City water and sewer, and many of our guests comment on the great water pressure. A washer & dryer is located on this floor for your use, as well as a freezer and refrigerator.
Meals
Meals are taken on the top floor, with an awesome view of the cove and the surrounding mountains. Eagles entertain you while dining on meals that won't soon be forgotten. All of our guests rave about the food here. We do not skimp on portions or the quality of what we are serving you. Menu Items include locally caught seafood, fresh salad greens, desserts using local berries, and freshly baked breads & goodies.Dietary issues are easily handled as long as advance notice is given.
