Our Little Corner of Kodiak Island is Alaska’s Best Kept Secret!

For many years our customers have been telling us the combination of Katy’s cooking and the incredible fishing opportunities available from our lodge, (located in Port Lions on the Northwestern most tip of Kodiak Island), is Alaska’s best kept secret.

The Waters Surrounding Our Lodge Are Very Protected!

We fish numerous bays, passes, capes and rivers throughout the summer months, and use many of the same areas to conduct our hunting excursions for Sea Ducks andas access to pursue Sitka Blacktail Deer. These waters are extremely fertile andare periodically boiling with large schools of tiny baitfish! Combine these facts with professional guides and over twenty years of experience on Kodiak Island waters, and you have an unbeatable recipe for success.

The Salmon Fishing on Kodiak Island Offers the Angler More Diversity Than Anywhere Else!

"Fishing for Kings in June"
Because of Kodiak Island’s location in the Gulf of Alaska, our fishing opportunities are seemingly endless. We have a year round population of King Salmon who hang around to feed on the numerous bait fish that surround the Islands of the Kodiak Archipelago. Although we catch them year round, they feed most actively from May through September. These King Salmon are generally known as “Feeder Kings”. This means they are not destined for their respective rivers in the same year that they are caught in, and run in the three and four year old class. Their average size is about 23 pounds, and because of this we are able to use lighter tackle than one might expect when trolling for King Salmon. During May and June, the Sockeye Salmon make their annual runs up the rivers on Kodiak, and provide our guests with spectacular fly fishing opportunities. These fish average around 6 pounds, and are the most acrobatic of all the Salmon. July provides us with the first Silver Salmon of the season fished in salt water. We fish these fresh Silver Salmon from our boat using a variety of techniques such as Trolling, Jigging, Spin Casting, and even Fly Casting. Silvers at this time are usually in large schools, and provide us with extremely fast action. The month of August is when the Silvers start to gather in the river systems, waiting for their perfect moment to continue up stream. This gives our guests the opportunity to sight cast their favorite fly or lure at these acrobatic, chrome bright beauties while wading the banks in a stream, or from the boat in an inner tidal area.

The Halibut Fishing in Our Local Waters Is Second to None!

"The gang from Minneapolis with an Awesome Catch"

It’s true! Halibut fishing on Kodiak is second to none. Many anglers who travel to Alaska have only fished the Homer and Seward area for these Giants of the Pacific. They have had to travel many miles out to the open ocean before they could even drop a hook. Here in our area, the waters are very protected, and Halibut can be caught just minuets away from our harbor. Thousands of these giant fish of the Pacific migrate into the shallow waters surrounding our home during the summer months. This makes locating and hooking them the easy part of the fishery! We often hear people refer to a Halibut as a barn door, however the resemblance is strictly size related! When hooked in reasonably shallow water, (less than 200 ft.) these fish are quite active and will give even the most adept angler a formidable battle. The halibut are concentrated in our waters from May through September, and you can expect to have excellent fishing during this time.

We Go The extra Mile to Provide Our Guests With Quality Tackle & the Freshest Bait

"Rockfish are Plentiful and Colorful!"

Our goal as your hosts is to be certain that your fishing trip will be one of your fondest memories. This means we are committed to every detail and spend a great deal of time when making decisions concerning such things as fishing gear & terminal tackle. We only use lures and bait that has proven time and again to catch fish. We refresh our tackle and gear often to help ensure our guests success. Great care is also put into selecting the perfect ingredients that will be transformed into your dining pleasure. We look forward to meeting each of our new guests, and to greeting our friends who return to fish with us year after year.
